Here at Alpha Upsilon we strive to be True Gentlemen.
We aim to achieve the goals set forth by John Walter Waylen through focusing on these four pillars.
We aim to achieve the goals set forth by John Walter Waylen through focusing on these four pillars.
Friendship
Alpha Upsilon is the largest and most prominent Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter in the world. Contrary to preconceptions held about relationships in large organizations, SAE provides opportunities for all of its members to build lifelong friendships with one another. Brotherhood events include, but aren't limited to, intramural sports and social events. As the saying goes, upon initiation, we are brothers for life.
Leadership
At Sigma Alpha Epsilon we prioritize allowing every member to reach full potential. Every leadership role in the chapter is held by an active member, with positions ranging from Philanthropy Chair to Chaplain. Additionally, members hold leadership positions outside of the chapter. At the University of Arkansas and in the college and community at large. Having a strong presence on campus, creates numerous possibilities for members to lead.
Scholarship
Academics are very important to us here at SAE Arkansas. Every member that earns a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher, is invited to the annual Honor Roll Dinner. We hold contracts with tutoring companies to help members better comprehend material. In addition to that, we have a 2 man academic committee that enforces chapter bylaws regarding GPA, and helps members in need of assistance. As a chapter we held a 3.156 for the fall 2019 semester.
Service
SAE Arkansas's primary beneficiary is Arkansas Children's Northwest. This year at our annual haunted house we raised over $12,000 for Children's Hospital in just two nights. However, this is not our only service event. We serve at other events throughout the year, as well. These include the Phi-Alpha Classic, packing meals, and maintaining a local walking/biking trail. Overall, Alpha Upsilon provides many opportunities for members to connect with and serve their community.
